Maybelline Color Jolt // Review & Swatches

After a whim purchase a few months ago now, I picked up two “wintery” shades from the Maybelline Color Jolt range, anticipating the colder months and the berry hues that in my eyes reflect that. Eventually I picked up another shade at a sale, and recently, added another shade to my collection after hearing everyone rave about it. Today I am going to share with you my thoughts and whether they live up to the hype.

The Maybelline Color Jolt Lip Paints come in 7 shades (at least here in Australia) ranging from nudes, pinks, reds, berry and purple tones. These are marketed as HIGH pigmented lip paints that have more opacity than a regular lip-gloss.

The packaging is in the shape of a squeeze tube (slightly reminiscent of the OCC lip tars) with a “flocked tip” doe foot applicator that aids in easy application. They can be sheered out, or built up for high pigment and high shine colour.

I have heard a few complaints about the size of the product, and the number of uses you can get out of each tube, and I can see how that could be perceived as it is quite small in size. In comparison with other ‘liquid’ lipsticks out there, they hold more fluid ounce than a ColourPop Liquid Lipstick, and around the same as a Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. A negative, however, is that due to being in a squeeze tube and not a barrel, you can’t scrape product off the side.

The shades that I have are (from Top to Bottom) 35 Berry Naughty, 30 Red-dy Or Not, 10 Never Bare, and 05 Stripped Down. I love each and every shade I own as I have something for every “look” I would want to achieve. I love that the darker shades come out so vibrant and glossy, it truly packs a punch.

These are also extremely long-wearing, especially considering they are a glossy finish. I find that I can wear these for hours on end, even when eating and drinking, and they take a fair beating until they wear down. When they wear down they fade nicely, and leave almost a stain on your lips (more-so with the darker shades).

Sold at Priceline, Target and many other retailers for approx. $14.95, I personally recommend you pick up one of these to try out! Shade 35 Berry Naughty is constantly on rotation this Autumn/Winter Season for me!

Have you tried these? Let me know your thoughts below! x
